The Global Sumud Flotilla set out in the vital attempt to break the Gaza blockade, the Israel navy has now intercepted almost all the boats as they neared Gaza. This has provoked worldwide protests. Jennifer Debs interviewed Nico Calabrese who joined the flotilla.

Israel has decided to continue its attacks on the Palestinian people and those fighting for a Free Palestine, by illegally seizing, in international waters, the boats participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla, in which Thiago Ávila and Greta Thunberg are involved.

France finds itself in the grip of overlapping crises as Emmanuel Macron's government collapses and mass protests sweep the country. Following the ousting of Prime Minister François Bayrou in September, France operates without stable government whilst facing its most severe social unrest since the yellow vest movement.

Activists on the Gaza flotilla believe it could be attacked at any moment and are asking people to share the link to the live feed below to help protect the flotilla. And, of course, to be ready to protest if it is attacked.

Sixty years ago, on October 1, 1965 the Indonesian army set in motion its plans to seize power from president Sukarno and to destroy the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI), one of the main forces supporting the president. President Donald Trump, breaking with U.S. norms, is using the Justice Department to pursue his political enemies, going after liberal and progressive foundations and NGOs, and sending more troops to another American city to intimidate protestors. He has fired Justice Department attorneys who are unwilling to put his orders above the law and replaced them with flunkeys who will carry out his demands. He has promised “retribution” to his high-level political opponents and is now meting it out. And he is also targeting the political left, saying he will designate Antifa, that is the anti-fascist movement as a domestic terrorist organization, though there is no antifa organization and no legal designation for domestic terrorism. To carry out his campaign against Antifa he is sending troops to Portland, Oregon.

The current times, with the rise of the far right and genocidal wars, mark an era where the contradictions of the current system of production, distribution, and consumption demonstrate that we are in a higher stage of the already characterised civilisational crisis. However, this is not just another of Capitalism's cyclical crises. The metabolic rupture, this irreparable breach in the natural cycle of exchange between human society and nature, challenges human beings' ability to provide responses compatible with the acceleration of socio-environmental destruction.

It only took a few days for the situation in Nepal to abruptly shift, leading to violent riots, before the resignation of the Oli government and the appointment of lawyer Sushila Karki as interim Prime Minister allowed a return to calm, with de facto power returning to the hands of the army. The explosion of the Nepalese powder keg was preceded and followed by popular movements of a scale rare in the region. Revolted by the arrogance of the oligarchies, they often have the fight against corruption as their banner.

SÃO PAULO - Spring in the Southern Hemisphere began a day early in Brazil. On Sunday, 21 September, around 100 cities across the country – including the capitals São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Porto Alegre, Recife and Brasília – witnessed something unprecedented in the last three years: activism, the left and social movements took to the streets and squares, alongside a broader popular sector, equally outraged by two measures voted on by the Chamber of Deputies. The demonstrations in São Paulo and Rio were the strongest since the mobilizations for Fora Bolsonaro (Bolsonaro Out) between 2021 and 2022, and the celebration of Lula's victory on Paulista Avenue in October 2022.

While Gaza City is reduced to ashes, media attention is focused on the futile and poisonous posturing around ‘recognition of the State of Palestine'. We must not lose sight of grassroots solidarity, support the Global Sumud Flotilla, isolate Israel and counter the process of normalisation.

The United States' goal is to force African countries to take in deported individuals. Some despots have already agreed.

President Donald Trump, has begun a campaign to end free speech in the USA. Free speech is not only protected in the U.S. Constitution and in law, but also part of American history and culture. But Trump is not literally censoring the content, but rather using his personal wealth or the government's economic power to intimidate the media, universities, and law firms.
